Project Description:

The project consists of the construction of new flood defence barrier to ensure existing assets do not succumb to flooding. Scheme included full boundary reinforced in-situ concrete wall 1.2m to 1.5m high together with installed high security fencing anchor fixed to defence wall, Flood gates and stair access points and security lighting.

Works Included:

  • Following HSG 47 & NPG’s procedure for excavation works associated with flood defence construction on EHV sites protocol – Hand dig trial holes to locate existing services
  • Construction of structural concrete slabs and walls – (Various widths and heights as specified).
  • Installation of new security fencing including installations onto concrete walls.
  • Embankment works required to support proposed works
  • Removal of vegetation as required.
  • Modifications to existing road
  • Installation of drainage system
  • Installation of ducts & draw pits
  • Installation of flood pump chambers with pump and associated equipment
  • Modification of existing inspection chambers.
  • Installation of flood barrier gates
  • Installation of barrier fixings for slot in flood barriers as required.
  • Associated mechanical & electrical requirements (power supply for flood pumps, standby generator, new distribution board, pump kiosks)
  • Installation of CCTV system.
  • Reinstatement of adjacent landscape
